4-Acetoxy-N-methyl-N-ethyltryptamine (also known as 4-AcO-MET, Metacetin, and Azomet) is a lesser-known novel psychedelic substance of tryptamine class. Members of this group produce psilocybin-like psychedelic effects when administered. It is structurally related to psychedelic tryptamines like 4-AcO-DMT, 4-AcO-DET, and 4-AcO-MiPT.

The substance is closely related in structure to 4-HO-MET, for which it is theorized to act as a prodrug.

" ... Honestly, I would have to say that this was one of my favorite drug experiences of all time, but that doesn't really surprise me. I've been experimenting a lot with 4-substituted tryptamines lately, and as far as the argument of the acetate esters versus the indolols goes, I think I've pretty much come into my personal belief that though there is a definite difference in the experiences which probably comes down to a difference in pharmacokinetics and ratios of peripheral versus central serotonin receptor activation, but ultimately, I would bet that it's the same molecule (i.e., the indolol, whether directly or through metabolism) which is causing the psychedelic effects. I now feel extra assured of this from the fact that I found this experience with 4-AcO-MET, at that sensory overload delirium level, to be completely interchangeable in a psychedelic sense with an equipotent dose of 4-HO-MET, the one difference being that it had the intensity of DMT likely from being vaporized instead of taken orally. And considering that 4-HO-MET is one of my favorite psychedelics ever, this is a pretty wonderful thing for me. ... "
